PRISTINA, Serbia-Montenegro - Police seized 20 bags of amphetamine tablets in a
southern Kosovo town, police said Thursday.
The officers found more than 12 kilograms, or about 26 pounds, of the pills
wrapped in plastic bags in the back seat of a parked car in Prizren, a town some
80 kilometers (50 miles) south of the province's capital, Pristina, said police
spokesman Fatmir Gjurgjeali.
The vehicle had registration plates from neighboring Macedonia, he said.
Kosovo has been administered by the United Nations and patrolled by NATO
peacekeepers since 1999. The province is believed to be often used as a transit
point for drugs intended for sale in Western Europe.
