Bujanovac, 30 January: Unidentified culprits, reportedly from Kosovo, attacked a police checkpoint in the village of Dobrosin, 16 kilometres west of Bujanovac.

Yesterday at about 0500 [0300 gmt], the attackers came from the village of Podgradje and shot at the police base with an automatic weapon from a distance of 100 metres. No-one was injured in the attack. One bullet went through the side of a garbage can and ricocheted several times, but no police officer was hit. There are members of the Serbia-Montenegro Army, the Vranje police department and Kfor [Kosovo Force] staying at the base.

The Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja Liberation Army [UCPBM, ethnic Albanian rebel forces] was formed in Dobrosin in 2000.
