Socialists say government support hinges on Hague policy
B92 Radio - February 26, 2004
BELGRADE -- Thursday – The Socialist Party’s
support for Vojislav Kostunica’s minority government will depend on its attitude
towards cooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal, a senior official of
Slobodan Milosevic’s party said today.
“You heard Mr Kostunica’s statement. If they don’t stick to what they’re saying,
there will be no support,” Zarko Obradovic said today, in reference to
Kostunica’s opposition to the extradition of Serbs charged with war crimes under
the principle of command responsibility.
“If the government fails to stick to its program and does things differently
from what it has promised the people of Serbia, the support will of course be
withdrawn,” said Obradovic.
