Kosovo telecom chief's car comes under fire

Pristina, 28 February: The head of Kosovo's telecommunications authority escaped unhurt when gunmen opened fire on his official vehicle Wednesday [28 February].The attack occurred at 0820 [0720 gmt] on the main road from Pristina to the western town of Pec near the village of Djurdjivca.

The driver, Berisha, and two members of his family were all unharmed.

"We found shells from a handgun and an automatic weapon," said police spokesman Agron Borovci. "The car was hit, but no-one was hurt," Borovci said, adding it was "a miracle" that no-one was wounded in the attack.

The incident came days after the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) awarded a second mobile telephony license in Kosovo. [Passage omitted: more details] end
