Serbian patriarch offers condolences to
Milosevic family
BBC Monitoring Europe (Political) - March 14, 2006, Tuesday
Text of report by Belgrade-based Radio B92 on 14 March
[Announcer] Serbian Patriarch Pavle has voiced an opinion over the death of
[former Serbian and Yugoslav President] Slobodan Milosevic, offering deep
condolences to Milosevic's family on both his behalf and the behalf of the
Serbian Orthodox Church. In this moment, I expect of our state institutions and
all our people to live up to the level of their responsibility before God,
history, and the tragic ending of Milosevic's life in this world. Death is a
sacred thing and everyone has an inalienable right to have a grave and a
dignified funeral, especially the people who, like Slobodan Milosevic, marked
their own time and the fateful events in the lives of both the Serbian people
and other people of this murky epoch, Patriarch Pavle's statement said.
