PRISTINA -- Monday –
Hundreds of Serbs from the village of Caglavica have blocked the Pristina-Skopje
highway in protest at the shooting of a teenage boy this evening.
Eighteen-year-old Jovica Ilic is in a serious condition in the Kosovska
Mitrovica hospital, where director Milan Ivanovic told media that he expected
his condition to be stabilised.
Eye-witnesses say the drive-by shooting was carried out from a red Golf which
came from the direction of Skopje and sped off towards Pristina.
Police say that eight shots were fired at Ilic from a pistol fitted with a
silencer. He was hit by two shots in the abdomen and one in the arm.
Soon after the attack, which occurred at about 7.00 p.m., hundreds of local
Serbs set fire to a car, blocking the highway.
Local and UN police have detoured traffic through Kosovo Polje and Gracanica.
