Beta - February 15, 2004

VUCITRN -- Sunday – Serbs in the Kosovo village of Miroc left their homes this morning after international peacekeepers removed the local checkpoint, Beta news agency reports, citing sources in the UN-governed province.

Kosovo Serb leaders last week asked the province’s ombudsman, Marek Nowicki, to get the KFOR peacekeepers to reopen checkpoints in the villages of Banjksa, Slatina and Miroc. Nowicki had previously asked KFOR to restore the checkpoints in Velika Hoca, Banjska and Slatina.
