Tribunal extends Seselj communication ban
Beta - March 11, 2004

THE HAGUE -- Thursday – The Hague Tribunal has extended by thirty days a restricted communication regime imposed on Vojislav Seselj, the Serbian Radical Party leader awaiting trial on war crimes.

A similar ban on former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic has been lifted.  Although no explanation was given for this it is believed to be in order to allow him to prepare his defence case, which he is to begin presenting in May.

The ban was placed on both defendants in December last year to prevent them taking part in Serbia’s election campaign.
