Beta - April 23, 2003

BELGRADE -- Tuesday – The Coordination Centre for Southern Serbia has confirmed that KFOR have arrested Shefqet Musliu, a member of the disbanded illegal Liberation Army of Preseveo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.

The capture follows the issuing of an Interpol warrant for the arrest of militant Musliu on charges of assault, extortion and illegal possession of arms.

The Coordination Centre also confirmed that Beshim Tahiri, a member of Musliu’s ‘unit’, was arrested in Bulgaria a few days ago.

Serbian police and international forces are continuing to search for a third member, Lirim Jakupi, who is believed to be hiding in Albania or elsewhere in the region.

Musliu is alleged to have incited unrest among Albanians in southern Serbia by pressuring them with intimidation, threats and harassment to join the Liberation Army.
