BOSNIA: SURRENDER PLEA PROOF KARADZIC FAMILY
THREATENED - BROTHER
BBC Monitoring International Reports - July 28, 2005
Excerpt from report by Serbian news agency Beta
Belgrade, 28 July: Luka Karadzic, brother of Hague indictee Radovan Karadzic,
told Beta this evening that he did not agree with Ljiljana Zelen-Karadzic's
appeal to her husband to surrender and that he believed that the appeal was the
result of unprecedented pressure on the family.
"What if the appeal does not reach Radovan for a while? What if he himself does
not wonder [whether to surrender or not]? What if he cannot or is not in a
position to make that decision," Luka Karadzic asked. [Passage omitted]
Luka Karadzic said that he could see from "the way she spoke, the appeal, her
behaviour and her face" that "this was done under pressure unprecedented in the
world and in normal countries".
"So she appeals to her husband, whom she loves more than anything in the world,
to surrender for the sake of the family. With this appeal she made it clear to
the entire world that her family and her little grandchildren are under threat,"
Luka Karadzic said. [Passage omitted]
