PROTESTS OVER DELAY IN START OF SERBIAN ASSEMBLY SESSION, LACK OF INFORMATION
Beta - October 14, 2003
Belgrade, 14 Oct (BETA) -- Zoran Andjelkovic, the general secretary of the
Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), has
protested today because of the delay in the start of the Serbian Assembly
session and because the deputies have not been informed about the reasons for
the delay.
"Today the day in the Serbian Assembly can be compared to waiting for a train
that was supposed to arrive at 1000 (0800 GMT) but no one is saying when it is
coming and whether it will arrive at all," Andjelkovic told reporters in the
assembly building. Andjelkovic added that DOS (Democratic Opposition of Serbia)
was in this unenviable position because of stripping deputies of their mandates
and because of the decision that deputy seats belong to the parties rather than
the deputies.
