Serb TV says Islamic warriors' leaders still
not expelled from Bosnia
BBC Monitoring Europe (Political) - January 21, 2009 Wednesday
Text of report by Bosnian Serb public Television (Banja Luka) on 20 January
[Presenter] Almost one third of Islamic humanitarian organizations in the
Balkans had helped activities of Islamic groups linked with terrorism, including
the Egyptian Al-Gama'at al-Islamiyya, Palestinian Hamas and Lebanese Hezbollah,
US publicist and expert for anti-terrorism Evan Coleman has said, stressing this
was mentioned in the US Government report from 1996, which was labelled strictly
confidential. The Wall Street Journal previously claimed this report had been
produced by the US Central Intelligence Agency.
Although the US State Department placed Bosnia-Hercegovina on the list of
countries where terrorist organizations are active already in 1999, and
requested expulsion of leaders of Islamic volunteers from Bosnia-Hercegovina,
who came to help their brothers by religion during the war in Bosnia-Hercegovina,
this has not been done so far.
