MACEDONIAN ETHNIC ALBANIAN REBELS
"CONTROL" PART OF TETOVO-KOSOVO
ROAD -RADIO
FoNet - February 19, 2003
Pristina, 19 February: Several persons in military
uniforms, which according to the Macedonian police are members of the Albanian
National Army (ANA), are controlling part of the road from Tetovo to
Kosovo near the Jazince border
checkpoint, Pristina-based Radio 21 reports.
The first official appearance of uniformed members of the ANA was "registered"
yesterday morning, when, according to witnesses, two groups of members of this
paramilitary formation "set up" a control checkpoint in the village of Drenovec
and began to control vehicles and check identification documents of the
passengers. The same source said that the paramilitary formation ANA had
announced "new operations" and took "responsibility for the assassination as
received in the south of Macedonia".
The members of this guerrilla movement claim that the aim of their struggle was
the creation of a "Greater Albania".
The head of Tetovo police, Zemri Camil, rejected reports of certain media that
members of the paramilitary formation yesterday morning blocked the
Tetovo-Jazince road.
