Kosovo Serbs say province's security situation
"significantly deteriorated"

Kosovska Mitrovica, 17 March: The Serb National Council (SNV) of Kosovo said
today that even three years after the outbreak of large-scale violence, the
situation has yet to improve in the province, but has, as it says,
"significantly deteriorated, above all in the sense of security for Serbs and
the establishment of the rule of law".
Even three years after, those responsible for the destruction and desecration of
Orthodox sacred objects, the torching of more than 800 homes, and the killing
and wounding of the innocent Serb population have not only not been found, but
virtually nothing has been done to bring them to justice, the statement says.
Responsibility lies with the interim institutions in the province and part of
the international community who, through their inactivity regarding a proper
investigation, are concealing the crimes and this way actively participating in
the formation of an independent state of Kosovo, the SNV said.
