FoNet - April 3, 2003
Kosovska Mitrovica, 3 April: A high vocational medical school in the northern
part of Kosovska Mitrovica was evacuated today due to a false bomb threat.
Members of UNMIK UN Interim Administration Mission in
Kosovo informed the director of the
high vocational medical school, Vuk Djordjevic, that they had received an
anonymous threat claiming that an explosive device had been planted in the
school. The director of the high vocational medical school, Vuk Djordjevic, told
FoNet that members of UNMIK police had searched the school and informed him
that, according to an anonymous call, the explosion would be expected at 1400
1200 gmt but that, fortunately, this did not happen.
"We respected UNMIK's demand to evacuate the school as soon as possible as well
as the boarding area where students are lodged, some 100 of them," Djordjevic
said some time after 1200 gmt.
UNMIK representatives did not want to speak about details regarding the threat.
