EX-KOSOVO ALBANIAN ARMY COMMANDER PLACED UNDER HOUSE ARREST
FoNet - May 8, 2004
Kosovska Mitrovica, 8 May: One of the (ex-)commanders of the Kosovo Liberation
Army (KLA) and general in the Kosovo Protection Corps, Sami Lushtaku, was today
freed after being granted a conditional release by an international judge in the
Kosovska Mitrovica District Court.
An investigation into Lushtaku's case will be continued, FoNet has learnt from
the Office of the Kosovska Mitrovica District Court.
FoNet's source said that the international judge has ruled that Lushtaku be
placed under house arrest and he will not be allowed to leave his home without
informing the police.
"Lushtaku has been ordered to report to the police three times a week," FoNet's
source said.
Kfor (NATO-led Kosovo Force) arrested Lushtaku in Srbica at the end of April on
suspicion of involvement in the outbreak of the March violence in Kosovo as well
as other criminal activities.
