Kosovska Mitrovica, 12 May: A UN coach operating on Kosovska Mitrovica-Osojane
route carrying ethnic Serbs was stoned this morning around 0930 [0730 gmt] in
the Albanian village of Rudnik but no injuries were reported, Biljana Djuric,
who was in the coach, has told [Caglavica-based] KiM [Kosovo-Metohija] Radio.
"Around 50 passengers were inside the coach, including a significant number of
children and elderly persons. There were no injuries but several windows were
smashed on the vehicle," she added. Members of the KPS [Kosovo Police Service]
and UNMIK [UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo] police carried an
investigation, and this is the second attack against this coach in the past five
days.
One of Osojane inhabitants, Malisa Djuric, told KiM Radio that the stoning of
the coach operating on this route has become a routine thing.
"It always happens in Rudnik. Given that this has become a commonplace
phenomenon, we have requested escort from both the police and Kfor [NATO-led
Kosovo Force], but to date nobody has given any attention to this problem," he
noted.
