Belgrade, 23 August: Serbian President Boris Tadic has sharply condemned the
attack against a Serb teacher in central Decani who participated in an OSCE
multiethnic camp together with a group of Serb children, the Serbian
presidential press service said.
"On countless occasions, President Tadic has been pointing to the fact that
Kosovo Albanian leaders and representatives of interim [Kosovo] institutions
obviously cannot keep the situation under control and he has been calling on
them to influence extremists within their ranks and stop incidents, beating of
Kosovo Serbs and threats against them," the statement said.
Security situation in Kosovo is very bad, Tadic warned, especially noting the
hitherto unseen pressure on UN institutions in Pristina.
"The blockade of the exit outside the Kosovo Assembly [by Self-Determination
Movement activists], UN secretary-general's special envoy Martti Ahtisaari is
prevented from doing his job," the statement said.
