Serb flats "stormed" in divided Kosovo town
BBC Monitoring Europe (Political) - October 5, 2005, Wednesday
Text of report by Serbian independent news agency FoNet
Belgrade, 5 October: The chairman of the Serb National Council [SNV] for
Northern Kosovo-Metohija, Milan Ivanovic, today said that certain individuals
from [ethnic] Albanian media, accompanied by Danish Kfor [NATO-led Kosovo Force]
soldiers "stormed three high-rise buildings in the [Serb-held] northern part of
Kosovska Mitrovica and harassed Serb families".
A statement from the SNV said that a group of Albanian journalists entered Serb
flats alone, aiming to intimidate the remaining Serbs.
"This bullying and this robbery-style storming of Serb flats by Albanian
journalists was preceded by the stoning of Serb buildings in the vicinity of the
three high rises, which is a frequent phenomenon, which passes unnoticed by Kfor,
UNMIK [UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo] and KPS [Kosovo Police
Service]," the statement said.
