KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- Friday – A group of Albanians in national costume, escorted by K-FOR troops, this morning jeered at Serbs as they crossed the bridge which divides the segregated town, some of them stoning a bus from the Serbian city of Nis.

As the Albanians shouted “It’s time for them to go back to Serbia,” a group of about fifty Serbs moved on the Albanians and UNMIK policeman who managed to reach the southern part of the town.

Police have closed the bridge to traffic, letting only vehicles from international missions cross the river.

Armoured vehicles were positioned near the bridge to monitor the crowd, which dispersed soon after midday.

UNMIK representative Tracy Baker confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident which she described as the disruption of a relatively peaceful period in Mitrovica.
