Text of report in English by Croatian news agency HINA

Pristina, 2 April: The number of cases of trafficking in children in Kosovo is on the rise, UNICEF said in Pristina on Friday (1 April), calling on the Kosovo police to take urgent and serious measures to stop it in cooperation with Europol and Interpol.

Presenting a study on children trafficking in the UN-administered province, UNICEF said that trafficking in women was also widespread in Kosovo and that those women were forced to prostitution.

Since 1999, 101 children have been identified as victims of trafficking in Kosovo. Sixty-one were from Kosovo while the rest were foreigners.
