Moscow, 12 May: Moscow sees certain provisions of the draft of a new UN Security
Council resolution on Kosovo as unacceptable. "Certainly, discussions with the
document's authors are still to be held. However, it is evident that the draft
resolution contains a number of provisions which we cannot accept," Russian
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said when answering a journalist's
question.
"As we have already said more than once, a real resolution of the Kosovo problem
cannot be achieved through some imposed options. This has to be done through
agreement between the sides, the Serbs and the Kosovo Albanians. This is why we
are in favour of determining the next steps in concert, so that they encourage
the negotiation process aimed at finding a compromise solution in the interests
of international stability," Kamynin said. His answer was published on the
Russian Foreign Ministry website.
