NATO commander in Bosnia warns against
terrorists
Kuwait News Agency - October 1, 2005
SARAJEVO, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- Commander of Nato forces in Bosnia General Louise
Weber said Saturday there were 10 activists who belonged to "Islamic terrorist
organizations" living in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Weber, quoted by the Sarajevo radio, said the North Atlantic Treaty
Organization's (Nato) forces were closely following these activists.
He said the 10 activists were "a sleeping cell," which would awaken when it is
needed. Weber underlined need of coordination with the local Bosnian police to
capture terrorists.
But the General ruled out the cell would carry out terrorist actions inside
Bosnia because the system of security and protection in the Balkan state was
sophisticated and accurate, in addition to a high-level of coordination between
the Bosnian police, the Europe Force (EUFOR), the Nato forces and International
police.
Nato forces here cracked down on dozens of Islamic charity offices in Bosnia and
seized many documents thus triggering their closure because many of these
offices were involved in illegal acts. (end) yr.
