Dragisa Miletic, chairman of the Democratic Party for Orthodox Unity of Serbs and Macedonians, has warned that armed terrorist groups in Macedonia and Kosovo are ready to act and exert pressure for the recognition of Kosovo's independence.

"In the Prizren area, there are terrorists who are in contact with the armed groups from the Lipkovo and Tetovo regions. They are prepared to take action to force the international community to support Kosmet's [Kosovo-Metohija] independence," Miletic warned. He added that the police also had information on this and that, unless they acted, they would be violating their constitutional duties and "falling into" the waters of crime.

"We have received reports about armed groups from our Serbian sources and contacts. The goal of these armed groups is to partition parts of Macedonia, Montenegro, and Greece and attach them to a Greater Albania," Miletic says.

In his view, Kosovo is an inalienable part of the Republic of Serbia and this is guaranteed under UN Resolution 1244. "We propose a broad autonomy for Kosovo, but we warn that it is Belgrade and Pristina that should decide on Kosovo's future with the help of objective mediators from the international community. Kosovo does not have the capacity to be independent. Otherwise, Serbia has the constitutional right to defend its integrity and intervene," Miletic said. In his view, Kosovo's independence is impossible because denationalization of the property that belongs to the Serbian Orthodox Church [SPC] cannot be carried out there.

There are currently 100,000 Serbs in Kosovo, and more than 500,000 are treated as displaced people and cannot return to their homes.

Regarding the clash between the SPC and the [canonically-unrecognized] MPC [Macedonian Orthodox Church] Miletic believes that it should be resolved through the prism of church canons.

"Our party believes that a public debate should be raised about this issue, in which experts in church law will explain the impediments to the recognition of the Republic of Macedonia's church," Miletic said.

Miletic's party is opting for early general elections in June. "The security and economic situation in the state has deteriorated greatly. Moreover, the government lacks the capacity to deal with problems. This is a drawback for the state with regard to the European factor," Miletic said. He believes that Prime Minister Buckovski is exerting pressure on the media; hence, he has asked him to resign.
