Vucitrn, 15 April: Vandals have broken into the Sveta Petka church, near the village of Gojbulja in the municipality of Vucitrn, and damaged it, local teacher Bratislav Kostic has said.

A memorial service had been held earlier with most of the villagers present. Local children later went to plant flowers outside the church.

"The children arrived at around 1500 [1300 gmt] and noticed that the church doors had been opened forcibly and that an icon, the chandelier and a picture of Bishop Artemije had been broken," Kostic said.

He noted that all the other churches in the municipality had already been destroyed.

The villagers believe that the attack was aimed against the 250 remaining Serbs in Gobulja, which is surrounded by Albanian villages.
