Pristina, 8 August: The Albanian National Army (ANA) terrorist group has sent new threatening letters to UNMIK [UN Mission in Kosovo], and it is believed that this is strengthening the campaign against international presence in the province.

UNMIK employees have been told to inform the security services if they receive new threatening letters, Belgrade media report.

The Kosovo Protection Corps, whose head is the former Kosovo Liberation Army [KLA] commander Agim Ceku, is not surprised with this move by the ANA.

The Corps claims that the ANA organized bomb attacks on the UNMIK HQ in Pristina and attempted an assassination on Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova against the will of the Albanian political representatives.

Forum for Ethnic Relations director Dusan Janjic said that in an environment where there is lack of full cooperation between the Albanian political leadership and representatives of the international community there is room for extremists activities.

"It is clear that the Albanian movement is combining violence with politics. When politics weakens they resort with violence. ANA will try with propaganda, but UNMIK will not crumble before their threats," Janjic said.
