Serbia Recalls Victims of NATO Bombs
Presna Latina - March 24, 2006

Belgrade, Mar 24 (Prensa Latina) On Friday Serbia remembered the people killed seven years ago in the 78 days of continuous "Angel of Mercy" bombings by the US and NATO.

The attacks began the night of March 24, 1999, and ran through June 9, 2000, when the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY, Serbia and Montenegro) agreed to a temporary pullout from the autonomous province of Kosovo.

More than 1,000 civilians, including some 100 children, were killed during the bombings, with material damages estimated at over 30 billion dollars.

The aggression was launched under the pretext of humanitarian intervention after Belgrade rejected an intervention in its conflict with Albanian Kosovan terrorists, meaning it had to accept NATO military presence on its soil.
