BBC Monitoring International Reports - April 24, 2007, Tuesday
Excerpt from report by Russian news agency RIA Novosti
Moscow, 24 April: If based on the plan of [Martti] Ahtisaari [special envoy of
the UN secretary-general for the future status process for Kosovo], a solution
will not find support at the UN Security Council, Russian Deputy Foreign
Minister Vladimir Titov has told journalists in Moscow. " A decision based on
Martti Ahtisaari's draft will not get through the UN Security Council," Titov
said.
He added that the threat of Russia using the veto should stimulate the sides to
find a mutually-acceptable settlement. "The threat of the veto should stimulate
a search for mutually acceptable options," he said. [Passage omitted:
Ahtisaari's blueprint for Kosovo.]
