assassination attempt
BBC Worldwide Monitoring - November 5, 2004, Friday
Text of report by Bosnian Serb Television (Banja Luka) on 4 November
Announcer: Branislav Dukic, chairman of the Bosnian Serb Republic
Association of Former Concentration Camp Inmates, escaped an apparent
assassination attempt tonight. In a statement for Serb Republic Radio
Television, Slavko Jovicic, vice president of the Serb Republic Association of
Former Concentration Camp Inmates, has confirmed that Dukic is in a state of
shock but that he luckily escaped injury.
Jovicic: The attempt on the life of the president of our association -
which I would characterize as an act of terrorism - will not demoralize us.
Quite the contrary, we will pursue our activity because, regardless of all the
threats to which we have been exposed, no one can prevent us from spreading the
truth about the suffering of the Serb people and no one will make us stop by
instilling fear or paranoia in us. We will not give up and now we are even more
determined than ever to continue our efforts, that is, to fight for the truth
about the suffering of our people.
