International forces note appearance of armed groups in Kosovo - Serbian daily

Text of report by Serbian TV satellite service on 10 March

[Presenter] International representatives have noticed a concentration of armed groups in black uniforms with Kosovo Liberation Army emblems in the last few days in the Drenica, Pec and Djakovica area, [Belgrade-based daily] Vecernje novosti reported today.

According to the paper, the intelligence services of the NATO member states have informed their governments and the international community about this.

Novosti reports that UNMIK [UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo] and [NATO-led] Kfor [Kosovo Force] forces have received strict orders not to enter into any clashes or disputes with the armed groups and when noticing them to abandon their mission and return immediately to base.

According to the paper, [ethnic] Albanian extremists have assessed that Kosovo independence is a done thing, and that after the official declaration of independence in the Kosovo Assembly and independence recognition by certain countries in the region, a fresh exodus of Serbs should be provoked.
