Serbian TV reports from
Kosovo shooting scene - motive of attack not robbery
BBC Monitoring Europe (Political) - May 11, 2006 Thursday
Text of report by Serbian TV on 11 May
[Presenter] Esteemed viewers, two Serb youths, employees of a petrol station in
Grabovac near Kosovska Mitrovica, were seriously wounded when an unidentified
attacker this morning fired automatic weapons at them.
[Reporter] Both young men are seriously wounded. Complicated surgery lasted for
nearly four hours. Jablan Jeftic is in an especially critical condition.
[Chief Physician Radomir Jankovic] He was bleeding massively and was placed on
an operating table in a state of serious shock without a pulse and with both his
thighs wounded. On his left thigh, both his femoral artery and vein were fully
cut off, ripped up.
[Interviewer] What is the health condition of both patients now?
[Jankovic] They are still in a critical condition. It would be thankless now to
give any prognostication, given that they are still under anaesthesia. They
practically left the operating room around 0700 [0500 gmt].
[Reporter] The attack took place this morning around 0330 [0130 gmt]. The
attacker, we have learnt, wore a balaclava. He came out of the dark and fired
shots with automatic weapons.
[Radasin Pavlovic, captioned as owner of the petrol station] When I arrived I
was simply overwhelmed. Milojica [Jovan Milosevic] was lying in blood against
the station's middle wall and he told me: I am all right, run to find Jablan.
I found Jablan behind the petrol station, lying on the concrete facing the
ground. He just told me: Old man, give me some help.
[Reporter] The attackers did not take any money from the petrol station or
anything else for that matter, which indicates that robbery was not the motive
for this attack.
