Serbian Orthodox church damaged in attack in Kosovo capital
BBC Monitoring Europe (Political) - August 24, 2006 Thursday

Text of report by Serbian TV on 24 August

[Presenter] Unknown perpetrators have desecrated the church of St Nicholas in Pristina, Serb sources in Kosovo-Metohija told Tanjug [news agency] today. The windows and door of the church were smashed in the incident along with a metal fence, which had been provisionally put up around the church to secure the site.

The church was set on fire in the March 2004 violence, which completely destroyed the roof and the interior, including the altar. The refurbishment of the facility has in the meantime begun with the assistance of the Council of Europe, the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Kosovo institutions.
