Banja Luka, 26 January: Bosnia-Hercegovina Deputy Security Minister Dragan
Mektic has said that Bosnia-Hercegovina security officials have recently been
checking more than 700 foreign citizens who have been granted Bosnia-Hercegovina
citizenship in different ways, but who are suspected of having worked for
certain terrorist organizations.
"This revision will be carried out to the end, while so far Bosnia-Hercegovina
has closed down around 10 foreign humanitarian organizations with links to
terrorist organizations," Mektic told reporters in Banja Luka.
He specified that some of these foreigners had been granted Bosnia-Hercegovina
citizenship in the last two years, which, he said, was incomprehensible.
Mektic added that all police structures were working on uncovering these
criminal activities.
Speaking about the incident between the DGS (State Border Service) and the RS
(Bosnian Serb Republic) police at Banja Luka airport during (war crimes suspect)
Savo Todovic's extradition to The Hague, Mektic said that the DGS had drawn up a
report on this, but that a Serb Republic Interior Ministry report was being
awaited, after which the facts will be known.
