Banja Luka, 30 January: The (Bosnian) Serb Republic (RS) Association of Former
Camp Inmates will demand that the deputies of the RS People's Assembly reject
High Representative Paddy Ashdown's proposal envisaging a regional police
organization and allowing the police to cross entity borders.
In a statement issued today, the association warned that, if its demand was not
met, it would urge the RS People's Assembly to call a referendum on the Serb
Republic's secession from Bosnia-Hercegovina.
"The Serb inmates are also against attempts to do away with the RS Interior
Ministry and to transfer its powers to Bosnia-Hercegovina because it is known
that, according to the Dayton Agreement, only the entities are responsible for
the (territorial) organization of the police," the RS Association of Former Camp
Inmates said in the statement signed by its chairman Branislav Dukic.
