Srbica, 5 February: A group of some 20 Albanians today intercepted a bus
carrying Red Star (Belgrade football club) fans to the village of Banje in the
municipality of Srbica. The fans were taking Red Star T-shirts and balls as
presents for the Serb children of Banje and Suvo Grlo.
The bus was intercepted and attacked despite the presence of Kfor (NATO-led
peacekeeping force in Kosovo) soldiers and international policemen.
"UN police reinforcements were called in and a direct clash was avoided," Banje
local community chairman Dejan Tomasevic told SRNA.
After a three-hour wait, the Red Star fans were directed back to Kosovska
Mitrovica after Kfor had refused to let them proceed towards the Serb villages
in the municipality of Srbica.
