Orahovac, 2 March: Dragan Nedeljkovic's house was set on fire shortly after 2000 [1800 gmt] yesterday evening in the so-called Serb mahala [quarter] in Orahovac in Kosovo, which caused considerable material damage.

As SRNA was told by Serb sources in Orahovac, only local Serbs had taken part in putting out the fire, even though they appealed on several occasions to the fire brigade of the Kosovo police force and the Kosovo Protection Force.

There were no casualties, as the Nedeljkovic's had left the house and Orahovac in 1999.

The burnt down house is located on the separation line between the Serb and Albanian parts of Orahovac, which is why this incident has caused heightened anxiety among the local Serbs.

Around 650 Serbs - 100 children among them - are currently living in the Serb mahala in Orahovac.
