Five policemen injured in clashes with protesters in Kosovo capital

Pristina, 5 May: Five policemen were injured in Pristina today in clashes between members of the Kan NGO [Self-Determination Movement] and the Kosovo Police Service (KPS), SRNA has learnt from KPS spokesman Ranko Stanojevic.

He said that 22 members of Kan had been arrested following the fight which took place at around 1300 [1100 gmt] in the vicinity of the UN Mission HQ in the centre of the town.

Stanojevic said that nine persons had been remanded in custody, while the rest had been released.

He said that the protesters had been posting and distributing leaflets saying "End to UN Mission" and "UNMIK [UN Mission in Kosovo] go away".
