Kosovska Mitrovica, 19 May: A number of people were injured in a fight between
Serbs and Albanians after an Albanian in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica
had opened fire at security guards outside a building under construction which
the Serbian government allocated for returnees.
According to Serb sources, at around 2300 [2100 gmt] Albanian Bahtri Hajdari
fired several shots from a handgun at security guards outside the building in
Bosnjacka mahala.
Following the attack in which no-one was hurt, a fight broke out between Serbs
and Albanians.
The Kosovo Police Service (KPS) confirmed to SRNA that Hajdari, who is known for
his involvement in criminal activities, was arrested last night.
The police said that "swift police intervention prevented a clash of major
proportions".
