ASHDOWN DEALT "DIRECT BLOW" TO DEMOCRACY
-BOSNIAN SERB OPPOSITION LEADER
SRNA - June 30, 2004
Banja Luka, 30 June: The SNSD (Alliance of Independent Social Democrats) deputy
Milorad Dodik has said that this party will work towards overcoming the current
situation following the changes which the High Representative (in Bosnia-Hercegovina
Paddy Ashdown) has made in the (Bosnian) Serb Republic (RS) and that the SNSD
will take over the responsibility and the power in the RS when the people give
it to the party.
"The RS and the People's Party (presumably People's Assembly) can overcome this
situation and go forward," Dodik said and expressed hope that institutions would
continue with normal work already tomorrow.
The SRS (Serb Radical Party) deputy, Milanko Mihajlica, is of the opinion that
the RS "has suffered the biggest blow in its existence and that Ashdown's
decision is a direct blow to the BiH (Bosnia-Hercegovina) democracy".
