SHOTS FIRED AT
KOSOVO ASSEMBLY SPEAKER'S HOUSE LAST
NIGHT - UN POLICE
SRNA - July 21, 2003
Pristina, 21 July: Shots from automatic weapons were fired at the house of
Kosovo Assembly Speaker Nexhat Daci last
night at around 2300 (2100 gmt), UNMIK (UN Interim Administration Mission in
Kosovo) spokesman Barry Fletcher has told
SRNA.
He said that nobody had been hurt during the shooting and that only a few
windows were broken in the house. "The attack most probably targeted the house
of the Kosovo Assembly Speaker but the motive has not yet been made known, nor
has anybody claimed any responsibility. There is a possibility that this was an
accident," Fletcher said.
The UNMIK police have said that two other attacks were carried out in Pristina
last night, at around 2100 (1900 gmt), and the terrorists simultaneously
targeted the Pristina District Court and an UNMIK police station.
A missile fired from a portable grenade launcher was fired at the District Court
while a hand grenade was thrown at the police station number two in which
members of the UNMIK police and Kosovo police are accommodated.
There were no casualties but there has been considerable material damage.
