Glamoc, 5 September: The head of the municipality of Glamoc [mainly
Serb-populated municipality, part of Croat-controlled Herceg-Bosna Canton], Rade
Gvero, called an emergency session of the municipal council for today because of
the deteriorating security situation.
He said that thugs shot at three cafes, owned by Serbs and a Bosniak [Bosnian
Muslim]. No-one was injured in the attacks but considerable damage was caused.
"As long as the [local] police are dominated by Croats loyal only to the HDZ
[main Croat party], the people of Glamoc will be in fear for their life," Gvero
said.
He said that not a single incident, i.e. criminal act, committed recently was
resolved and that even when thugs were apprehended no charges were pressed
against them.
"The situation in Glamoc is such that people live in greater fear than in 1997
[when Croat settlers attacked Serb returnees]," Gvero warned.
