MORE THAN 1,000 SERBS ABDUCTED OR MISSING FROM
KOSOVO SINCE 1998 - ASSOCIATION
SRNA - September 15, 2003
Banja Luka - From 1998 up to this day 1,303 Serbs have disappeared from
Kosmet (Kosovo-Metohija), although
this figure is not final, the Association of Families of Abducted and Missing
Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija has said.
A member of the association's headquarters in Belgrade, Dragana Majstorovic,
told SRNA that of all the Kosmet Serbs who have been abducted or missing since
1998, more than 90 per cent have been abducted or missing since the arrival (in
summer 1999) of international stabilization forces - Kfor (Kosovo
Force) - in this southern Serbian province.
"We hope for all Serb associations to unite into one organization so we can
point to the real truth regarding the suffering of Serbs in areas of the former
Yugoslavia," Majstorovic added, whose 17-year-old son Ivan, a secondary school
student, disappeared on 19 August 1999 in Pristina.
