GRENADE ATTACK ON SERB HOUSE IN
KOSOVO TOWN, NO
CASUALTIES
SRNA - October 26, 2003
Obilic, 26 October: Unknown persons threw a hand grenade at the house of Dragan
Arsic in Cerska Street in Obilic last night at about 2030 (1830 gmt).
There were no casualties or injuries, but there was significant material damage
to the house where six Serbs were present during the attack. Arsic's house is
situated 20 metres away from the house where the Stolic three-member family were
killed in May this year.
According to one of the locals, Mirceta Jakovljevic, five bombs were detonated
on the first night of Ramadan in Oblic last year and because of this Serbs have
this year strengthened precautionary measures at the start of this Islamic
fasting month.
Obilic Serbs have protested to the Kfor (Kosovo Force) command for this area
over the search for weapons in Serb houses in the village of Babin Most on
Wednesday (22 October).
Two Serbs, Grujica and Novica Jovanovic, were arrested on this occasion.
Three days later Albanian extremists let off bombs, but Kfor refused to conduct
a search of Albanian houses in a specific part of Obilic, especially in the part
of Cerska Street where 14 Serbs still live totally surrounded by Albanians.
