Belgrade, 26 December: Lirim Jakupi was not wounded in a clash with Macedonian police near Tetovo and he is now in the US Bondsteel base in Kosovo-Metohija, the chairman of the (Serbian government's) Coordination Centre (for Kosovo), Nebojsa Covic, has said.

The Macedonian police said last night that Jakupi, one of the main commanders of the terrorist paramilitary units of Kosmet (Kosovo-Metohija) Albanians, had been arrested by UNMIK (UN Mission in Kosovo) forces in the territory of Kosovo-Metohija. According to the Macedonian police, Jakupi was previously wounded in the clash with the police in Tetovo town centre.

"Last night, we found out from our sources that Jakupi is in Bondsteel and that he had not been wounded," Covic told RTS (Serbian Radio-TV).
