ALBANIAN NATIONAL ARMY "CONTROLS" ROAD NEAR
KOSOVO-SERBIAN BORDER - AGENCY
Tanjug - March 3, 2003
Gnjilane, 3 March: The illegal Albanian National Army (ANA) AKSh in Albanian
early on Monday 3 March "controlled" traffic on the road from the northeastern
Kosovo-Metohija town of Gnjilane,
which is situated in the vicinity of Bujanovac, southern Serbia.
The uniformed members of the illegal group stopped a car carrying a Serb woman
and after a thorough search, which lasted for about 40 minutes, let her
continue, Tanjug has learned. This armed group mostly operates on this regional
road, 600 to 1,000 metres away from the administrative line dividing the
province from southern Serbia, where UNMIK UN Interim Administration Mission in
Kosovo and local police patrols are not frequently seen.
If legal police forces appear, ANA members quickly turn themselves into
motorized passengers and frequently continue to control the ground in this way,
by "patrolling" the area in their cars.
