KOSOVO: ALBANIAN EXTREMISTS STONE AMBULANCE
HEADING FOR MITROVICA HOSPITAL
Tanjug - March 18, 2003
Zubin Potok, 18 March: Albanian extremists pelted with stones in the village of
Zabare near Kosovska Mitrovica an ambulance vehicle of the medical centre in
Zubin Potok.
The vehicle moving towards Kosovska Mitrovica, accompanied by UNMIK UN Interim
Administration Mission in Kosovo police, was transporting a patient seriously
injured in a traffic accident, Dr Lena Mitrova said.
She said that Albanian extremists smashed windows on the ambulance car, and
UNMIK policemen did nothing to prevent them.
This is the third time in the past month that Albanian extremists in the village
of Zabare stone a vehicle of the medical centre in Zubin Potok, which transports
patients to Kosovska Mitrovica.
Mitrova said that they sent a protest note to UNMIK police and that from now on,
in sign of revolt, the ambulance vehicle even when transporting urgently
patients to Kosovska Mitrovica will use an old detour road, over Mt Kozarevo.
Serbs from Zubin Potok municipality, because of extremists who stone all
vehicles with Serbs in the villages of Kosutovo and Zabare, have been using for
four years now a detour macadam road.
