BIA
warns against deceptive calm in south Serbia
Tanjug - May 5, 2004
10:08 BELGRADE, May 5 (Tanjug) - The
current peaceful situation in southern Serbia proper and in Kosovo and Metohija
need not serve as a measure for the general situation, since it is perhaps calm
before a storm - an attempt by ethnic Albanian extremists to complete what they
started on March 17, said Milorad Mircic, head of the Serbian parliament defense
and security committee, after Security-Information Agency (BIA) officials had
informed him about the plans by Bujanovac terrorists.
"It is quite evident that there is a real danger of an outbreak of new clashes,"
Mircic warned in a statement published in the Belgrade daily Glas Javnosti on
Wednesday.
