Tanjug - May 19, 2003
15:50 BELGRADE , May 19 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav
Left (JUL) Vice President Goran Matic said Monday he was arrested without a
warrent two months ago and was held in custody for 26 days "without any reason"
with the explanation that his "presence threatens the security of the Republic".
Matic set out he would not have been kept in custody had he agreed to sign a
statement containing a sentence saying he did not exclude the possibility that
Slobodan Milosevic and Mira Markovic were behind the abduction and subsequent
murder of Ivan Stambolic. Matic added he had crossed out this part and in return
gotten "26 days in prison."
