SERBS IN NORTHERN KOSOVO
BLAME UN CHIEF FOR DETERIORATING SECURITY SITUATION
Tanjug - May 21, 2003
Kosovska Mitrovica, 21 May: Wednesday's 21 May session of the regional committee
of the Serbian National Council (SNV) of northern
Kosovo-Metohija said that the
harassment and killings of the Kosovo
Serbs continue and that the security situation in the northern part of the
province has deteriorated, as confirmed on a daily basis.
We will demand that the state organs immediately stop UNMIK UN Interim
Administration Mission in Kosovo chief
Michael Steiner, who has openly sided with the ethnic Albanians, and that the
Coordination Centre does not to break off relations with UNMIK due to its
refusal to hand over Shefchet Musliu, because he is not the biggest problem of
the local Serbs, SNV leadership member Nebojsa Jovic said. Jovic told a press
conference that SNV would repeat its demand to UNMIK and Kfor Kosovo Force to
initiate the realization of the programme for the return of the displaced Serbs
to major Kosovo-Metohija cities. He said the agreement for Kosovska Mitrovica
should not be given up as it calls for an advisory six-member body which would
administer this part of the city. Jovic added that SNV representatives would
step up political activities.
