Milosevic's wife Mirjana Markovic may run for Serbian president
Tanjug - September 20, 2003

Belgrade - JUL Yugoslav Left Directorate Director Zivojin Stanic has said that Mirjana Markovic might become the party's candidate at the 16 November Serbian presidential elections.

"Whether she will be our candidate depends, among other things, from the stand of her husband Slobodan Milosevic, who should suggest the candidate we should support," Stanic told the Saturday 20 September issue of the Belgrade daily Politika.

He said that "there are certain obstacles in connection with a warrant for the arrest of Mirjana Markovic".

"However, these are technical problems which will be overcome," Stanic said.

He said that the greatest problem was that JUL was not in touch with Markovic, adding that this obstacle was not insurmountable.
